has anyone used the Garmin Nuvi 465T for aprs? i see GTRANS-9F cable that argent data systems makes but dont know if that will work for the Nuvi 465T. i was thinking of getting the Garmin Nuvi 350 but if i could get a truck driving GPS to work for aprs then even better. please help me with any information you all have. thanks, 73s Ron Swart K7CDL aprs: K7CDL-14

Ron, the first thing is what radio and tnc are you going to use? If you are using a Kenwood 700a or 710 with the built in tnc, you will need a GPS that has NMEA. This is the output signal that plugs directly from the GPS to the radio. If that is the case. There are two sources you can rely on for this information. One is www.Garmin.com and sit on hold forever. or call Navsphere, www.navsphere.com/ as they will know exactly what you are talking about. Navsphere sells the cables only and no GPS unitsl They are very familiar with hooking up ham radios to GPS units. I use an older GPS 76CS and others use the eTrex GPS units. You call R and L or Navsphere for the cable. Most of the GPS units do require a separate cable for power and data, otherwise it runs on batteries.
