GALVA - William L. "Bill" Anderson, 70, Galva, died at 9:26 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at his home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bishop Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion. He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Kewanee, the son of Harold and Bertha (Ericson) Anderson. He is survived by a son, Derek Anderson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a daughter, Brittany Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; a grandson, Derek Anderson Jr.; two sisters, Donna (Larry) Lindberg of Britton, South Dakota and Marilyn (Wilbur) Nelson of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Delores Todorovich; and a daughter, Tricia Lynn Anderson. Bill graduated from Galva High School in 1965. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a pressman and machine operator for Maytag in Galesburg. He was known as "Maytag Bill" for his promptness of work attendance. He was of the Methodist faith and he belonged to the Galva American Legion and the Ham Radio Operators Club.
